Hello, here's a bit more about me
Gil began counseling in 1980 and his extensive counseling experience and giftedness has en- abled him to provide help to individuals and couples that previously felt they had no hope. He bases his counseling on the Great Commandment and believes that Biblical principles accurate- ly applied still transform people’s lives.
Gil’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University, a Master’s degree in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University, and a Master’s de- gree in Psychology also from Louisiana Tech University. Gil is also a Board Certified Christian Life Coach and a Board Certified Professional Christian Counselor, through the American Asso- ciation of Christian Counselors.
Gil is licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor and as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of Louisiana. His background includes working in a drug rehabilitation program, working with the developmentally disabled, working in a private psychiatric hospital, having a private practice for over ten years. He feels he was used by God as the counseling pastor, based at a local church, to start the largest Christian counseling center in North Lou- isiana. Gil is a licensed and ordained minister and is a charter member of the American Associa- tion of Christian Counselors. In addition to his work in counseling and life coaching, Gil is a chaplain with the West Monroe Police Department and range safety officer with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s office.
Gil’s passion is working with God through counseling to transform lives and helping churches get counseling ministries started. As a counselor, he has been using Gary Smalley’s material in marriage counseling for almost thirty years. He loves the way that Gary makes complicated things simple and easy to understand.
Gil was married in 1977 to Pamela and has two children, and two grandchildren.
